Online College Degree

We can no longer open our inbox without seeing some ad featuring a great new online college offering the latest and greatest online education, promising that we can earn a degree in anything from criminal justice to nursing all without having to leave the comfort of our own living room. All it takes is a decent computer, a little determination, and an Internet connection and, in anywhere from one to eight years, we can have our college degree and a chance at a better future.

Are these online colleges real? Are these online degrees legitimate? Is there funding available for an online degree? Will earning an online degree actually benefit your future? Will an online degree earn as much respect as a traditional degree? Would you be better off pursuing an online degree or following the more traditional route?

Most online colleges are real, offering real, legitimate degrees. Still you must be careful while shopping for an online college to make sure you're not wasting your time and money applying to one that will take your money in exchange for phony degree.Although there's not as much funding available for an online degree as there is for a traditional degree, if you take your time and do your homework, you will find funding available.

The lack of federal funding for online colleges has prompted many of these colleges to offer scholarship programs specifically for their students to help pay tuition bills. Many online students have decided that the convenience of online classes far outweigh the extra federal funding they might have received at a traditional college.

As far as how an online degree will affect your future, it is a good idea to talk to your employer and find out how they feel about online degrees. Could it help further your career? In this new, technology friendly world, most employers are as accepting of online degrees as they are of traditionally earned degrees. There are some industries, however, that prefer their employees to have gone to a traditional school.
