Family vs. Online Classes

Most online students are in the middle of finals and semester projects. It can be difficult to keep priorities straight…just when school demands so much time, family members expect extra holiday-season attention. Fortunately, you don't have to choose between your family and your coursework. My About.com article, 4 Ways to Balance Family and School, shows how you can succeed with both. Here's a blurb.
Setting specific times and posting a schedule on your office door (or kitchen fridge) can be a great way to form a common understanding and keep resentments from forming. Let your family know when you'll be available and when they shouldn't disturb you. If you're in an online chat meeting, for example, you may want to hang a "do not disturb" sign on the door. Let children know what instances are appropriate for interruption (a stuffed bear causing the toilet to overflow) and which are inappropriate (they have a sudden urge for ice-cream). This street goes both ways, however, and you'll also need to set some ground rules for yourself. Be available to your family during your off-hours and give them the attention they need. Let them know that they can trust you to be available when you say you will, and they'll be more willing to wait.

London calling Pakistani students to study in UK

The university held on-thespot interviews and conducted briefings on visa applications and other procedures. The open day was organised by the international regional head office of the university in Lahore and was attended by parents and agents as well. Mark Bickerton, the director of student recruitment and international development London, addressed the audience while regional director Faisal Hasan and manager operations Seema Khan were also present.

Bickerton explained that the university is a merger between two universities, London North University and London Guildhall University, which took place in 2002. “We offer high quality education on campus and try to have international students to create a multi-cultural environment,” he said. He appreciated the talent of Pakistani students and said that some of them had achieved really good results. Bickerton hoped that Pakistani graduates from his university will help improve human resource standards in the country. The university has 14 departments with a total of 36,000 students and they have so far enrolled 6,000 international students from 160 countries.

Study Thai Online via Skype

I am a long-time user of Skype  and for many years used Skype-out credit to call friends and relations back in the UK. On the Skype website one day I came across a case study for toniks.com, a UK-based company providing online language lessons using Skype. Some further searching revealed that many schools, companies and even individuals are offering language tuition over the net. However, I couldn’t find anybody offering Thai.

Owning a language school and employing around 15 Thai teachers, I saw an opportunity and knew I had all the necessary resources in place already. The difficulties, I believed, would be in two areas; 1. making it work technically, and 2. marketing the product.

With no experience or idea of how others were providing the service, I decided to find my own route. Any kind of proprietary software could be ruled out as too complicated and expensive. What I needed was some form of on-line meeting room. Searching the net turned up many good solutions, and after much testing one was settled on (no, I’m not going to tell you which one – sign up for a class.

The entire system needs to be robust and reliable, so we brought about some serious changes to the operating systems we use in our school. We ditched Microsoft Windows and installed LinuxMint on all school PC’s from the manager on down. This is a free, open-source operating system based on Ubuntu which provides virus-free, bug-free, reliable use every day. Since switching we have never had a PC hang or crash!

Being an internet-based service, we knew we couldn’t rely on a single ISP (internet service provider). Internet in Thailand is too unpredictable for commercial use, so we had a second ADSL line installed and connected our 2 ISP’s through a load balancer. This clever little device takes care of managing the two lines and using them both to the fullest extent possible.

Online courses

Online courses incorporate a range of delivery methods and many programmes can be studied entirely in your own country. You may therefore be able to complete the whole course without travelling to Australia, Singapore or the UK and the USA for workshops or seminars, while others may require some form of attendance in Australia, Singapore or the UK and USA or at local partner institutions. Check with your chosen institution to find out if the course is 100% online or if any attendance is required.

Full-time and part-time study options are usually available. With both you’ll be supported through a range of media included printed study materials and the internet, and you’ll communicate with your tutor and other students by mail, email or online via video conferencing and chat facilities.

You can study courses at every level including: undergraduate certificates, diplomas and degrees; postgraduate masters and MBA’s and professional qualifications via online learning.

Online Look for Study in UK

Study in UK  has long attracted Indian students on board for students. The country has a history of several centuries and an education system, and most eclectic  mix of old and new universities in the world. These institutions provide the best learning experience of students in all courses and maintain a high level of education ratified by the authorities.

British universities are preferred by students about other countries, as the cost of Study in UK less than American countries and many others. The reason is that the United Kingdom offers many courses a year during the same courses that make over a period of two years in other countries to study it more expensive to be taught there.

Online Degree Courses

Online degree courses make it easy for you to learn about a topic that interests you. You don’t even have to be intending to pursue a degree in order to take courses that are available online. However, you may very well find that once you start taking courses, you’ll enjoy it so much that you decide to go on and pursue a degree. At that point, you’ll already be enrolled in the school of your choice, so you’ll be ahead of the game.

Taking your courses through an online program does have other advantages. For example, let’s say that you have an interest in foreign languages. Why not study as many as you would like? With an online course you can study the languages you are interested in at a pace that suits you before moving on to the next one.

Have you always been interested in astronomy and wondered what you are seeing in the night sky? You can stop wondering if you find a course online. Imagine sitting outside under the night sky with your laptop and a lesson in your course as you identify the different constellations and learn the stories behind them.

Earning An Online University Degree

Earning an online university degree can be an experience that is every bit as enriching, interpersonal, and dynamic as attending college the traditional face-to-face way. A big misconception is that online learning is impersonal. This isn’t the case at all. Programs offered online present the same opportunities for group work, independent study, and interpersonal communication as do traditional methods of learning. In fact, attending college online helps to facilitate the independent learning process, as well as developing time management skills. Attending college online takes just as much commitment as the old-fashioned way of going to school, and the potential career and personal benefits are just as great, if not greater.

There are many advantages for a student seeking a University degree to choose an online institution. A student does not need to live locally to attend the school of choice. Attending all classes and submitting coursework online eliminates the need for commuting or relocating. Earning an online university degree is a convenient way to advance your education and training. A school may offer more sections of popular courses, as well as night and weekend courses, which allows a student more flexibility. This is an ideal situation for those who work full time and/or care for a family.

Online College Degree

We can no longer open our inbox without seeing some ad featuring a great new online college offering the latest and greatest online education, promising that we can earn a degree in anything from criminal justice to nursing all without having to leave the comfort of our own living room. All it takes is a decent computer, a little determination, and an Internet connection and, in anywhere from one to eight years, we can have our college degree and a chance at a better future.

Are these online colleges real? Are these online degrees legitimate? Is there funding available for an online degree? Will earning an online degree actually benefit your future? Will an online degree earn as much respect as a traditional degree? Would you be better off pursuing an online degree or following the more traditional route?

Most online colleges are real, offering real, legitimate degrees. Still you must be careful while shopping for an online college to make sure you're not wasting your time and money applying to one that will take your money in exchange for phony degree.Although there's not as much funding available for an online degree as there is for a traditional degree, if you take your time and do your homework, you will find funding available.

The lack of federal funding for online colleges has prompted many of these colleges to offer scholarship programs specifically for their students to help pay tuition bills. Many online students have decided that the convenience of online classes far outweigh the extra federal funding they might have received at a traditional college.

As far as how an online degree will affect your future, it is a good idea to talk to your employer and find out how they feel about online degrees. Could it help further your career? In this new, technology friendly world, most employers are as accepting of online degrees as they are of traditionally earned degrees. There are some industries, however, that prefer their employees to have gone to a traditional school.

Online Education Master’s Degrees

A master’s degree gives students training and education in a specialized field of expertise with greater depth than studying for a bachelors degree. Students pursuing a master’s degree traditionally need to hold a bachelors degree and commit to one to six years of study in a particular field. Online education masters degree programs make it easier for working business professionals to complete their education and attain advanced positions in their field.

Masters degrees definitely afford individuals an opportunity to increase their earning potential. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average weekly earnings for a masters degree holder are $1,102, which is $200 more than people holding a bachelors degree. These statistics further reveal that only 5.9 percent of adults in America hold a masters degree.

Online education masters degree programs may consist of any combination of advanced study courses, internships and independent research, such as a thesis. Some master’s degree programs enable students to go directly into a career, others require internships or additional credentials and some prepare students to enter doctoral degree programs. To fulfill the requirements of a masters degree program, students must attend between 30 to 60 semester hours, which may be completed online between 15 and 36 months
